78's archive...

Hello,

I've been dabbling with the Internet archive 78's section that's contributed entirely by archive users. Had to share this with you all:

www.archive.org/audio/collection.php

Some recording are clean but most are as found, which sounds just fine too!

    Wow SPQR...thanks a bunch!

    What a great resource!

Why don't you join us here...we are but a small group, but hopefully we can share good info.

      Hello Rick,

Thank you very much for the invitation, I'll definitely stick around for the 78’s discussion. Great tribe BTW:)

I am hoping to get a system together where I can transfer the 78's that I have into digital. At that point I'm hoping to share them with other members of this tribe!

I travel with my job quite a bit and there are literally TONS of antique/junk shops all around small-town West Virginia so I am browsing these stores and picking up 78s all the time.

I plan to start the conversions this winter (seems like a nice cold-weather activity).

Anywho...good having you here. And if you'd like, share a little about yourself and what your musical interest are.

        ~Rick

          Okey dokey,

I'm interested all styles of music but more specifically from both composer and sound design point of view. I got into 78’s as a public domain resource for conceptual sound art project that’s well over due. Firstly, I love to hear the condition of the record and secondly the song’s construction melodies etc. Sometime I hear a melody in the condition like a dust patch or scratch that’s loop worthy maybe. 78’s are a big source of inspiration to me!
